Tentative schedule for the Doodle Bug Scooter Reunion, Sept. 10-13, 2014

Mon. Sept. 8 – A tv crew from WHO-TV in Des Moines will be in town for the second annual RVTV event. For those of you who were in town last year you will remember how much fun we had with the Doodle Bug Race in the downtown area. If anyone can be in town on Mon., we are planning on a group ride to the downtown and possibly add to the fun.

Wed. Sept. 10 – Morning – Jim Winter will give a Radio Control model airplane demonstration at the fairgrounds.

Afternoon – possible trip to the Heartland Museum* in Clarion http://www.heartlandmuseum.org ($6.00 admission). Your own transportation will be required. *This museum has an excellent display of items from the Clarion area including an outstanding display of tractors and farm equipment. A Doodle Bug is also on display.

Thurs. Sept. 11 – 1:00 – Trip to the Hemken car museum in Williams http://www.the-hemken-collection.org ($5.00 admission). Don will have a bus for the trip.

3:00-4:00 – Ride to the downtown area as a group to display as many Doodle Bugs as possible. The group will plan to return to the fairgrounds in time to eat as a group.

Fri. Sept. 12 – 10:00 Coffee at the Bonebright Depot Museum.

1:00 Ride to the airport (approx. 7-8 mi. roundtrip).

Group dinner.

Sat. Sept. 13 – 9:00 Ride to Briggs Woods on the beautiful Boone River Scenic Bike Path (approx. 11.5 mi. roundtrip). We have requested a 3 hr. window with the time to be adjusted for the weather.

Be sure to bring your camera for some scenery that can’t be beat. We may even see some Bald Eagles around the bridge as we did last year!

Group dinner.

Sun. Sept. 14 – Traditionally members gather one final time for a breakaway breakfast at the HyVee deli before returning home.

One last chance to say our goodbyes.

Check the bulletin board in the Van Diest building on a daily basis for announcements and sign-up sheets.

As guests of Webster City, for added SAFETY, we are encouraged to ride in groups which makes us more visible.
